This is a letter from one of our chapter members. I did not know about this until now, so please pass it along to your chapters and members. This is GREAT !!!!!

FLW Phone membership # 270-252-1000

Thanks, Van Foster Jr.

I just joined the FLW Outdoors, via the phone number you provided me in an
earlier e/mail. I mentioned that I was a GBCF Federation member, and I was
switching to FLW from BASS/ ESPN. After stating this, I was told there was a
25% discount for Federation members coming from BASS.

The prices quoted to me were very good .

1 year - $18.75 VS. $ 25.00
2 years -$33.75
3 years -$48.75

1 year Gold member - $ 30.00
2 year Gold        - $ 56.25
3 year Gold        - $ 82.50

If I would have enrolled via the computer, I don't know if this discount
would have come up.

The representative I spoke with provided me with my membership number, and
said it would take approx 2 weeks to get my card.

The lady told me to pass this info along to other members of my club.

Discover Boating and Fishing Tour

Recently the Georgia Bass Chapter Federation ,(GBCF), was contacted by the Department of Natural Resources in Atlanta Georgia, to solicit participation from local bass clubs during the Georgia National Fair in Perry Georgia. Doug McDowell, (GBCF Communications Director), was put in touch with Rebecca Ammons, Assistant Tour Manager, of the Discover Boating Mobile Marketing Tour. GBCF was asked to be onsite during the Fair to help out with questions about fishing and boating in the State of Georgia. The Tour features a semi trailer which is 48 feet long and is big enough to be modified into a miniature version of a marina, which can host up to five boats in its docks-fostering the experience of boating and fishing to participating visitors. The sights and sounds of boating and fishing through the use of music and video, and visitors will get a feel for boating and fishing through various activities and interactive kiosks. The truck has been organized into five basic areas that participants can visit to find information on various aspects of boating and fishing.

In the Activity section, expert anglers and Discover Boating team members will help visitors by answering any questions they have and by distributing educational literature on fishing, boating, sailing and other water sports, including water skiing and wakeboarding.

The Boats section, or “mini marina” will give people the opportunity to get on board boats and ask questions to see which boat best fits their lifestyle. Visitors will also be able to take to the water in selected markets. There will be 3-5 boats displayed, depending on space provided.

The Immersion Splash Theater will include a fast-paced video demonstrating the fun and excitement of boating and fishing using a 9x7 screen. The show will run for close to 5 minutes and will fit 12-16 people at a time.

Building on the Resources section, the Local Stakeholders area will include participation from the Department of Natural Resources, the USCG Auxiliary and local retailers, who will provide the first-hand knowledge anglers and boaters need on local water access, where to go for boating lessons, and where to find the best local fishing holes.

There will also be a Fishing Simulator that will allow both adults and kids to try their hand at catching one of 10 salt and fresh water fish.

“When people come to the Discover Boating Mobile Marketing Tour they will be casting fishing rods and getting on board boats. We want to simulate the boating and fishing experience to demonstrate to individuals how these activities offer them a way to explore, a way to find excitement, and give them the opportunity to experience serenity and reconnect with their families,” says Discover Boating program manager Steve Tadd.

The Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase participation in recreational angling and boating and thereby increase public awareness and appreciation of the need for protecting, conserving and restoring this nation's aquatic natural resources.

“Our main goal is to get people excited about boating and fishing,” says NMMA director of Integrated Marketing John Marcinek. “After that, we want to capture visitor information and add it to our national database of prospective boaters and anglers, so that we can build a relationship with them, further assist them in finding the right boat, the right place to fish, or fulfill any additional needs they may have to become active members of the boating and fishing communities.”

GBCF would like to thank Keith and Rebecca Ammons for allowing us the opportunity to come out and help draw interest in fishing and boating. If you would like more information on the Tour, please click on the link below.

The Tour is a grassroots effort to introduce the joys of boating and fishing to those who have never been involved before, and to remind former participants of the values and benefits of the boating and fishing lifestyle.
